We're Hiring: Retail Coordinator

We’re looking for a full-time Retail Coordinator to join our team. 

Before you read any further: This role does not involve direct interaction with the animals. We cannot emphasise this enough. Please do not apply for this role if you want to work with animals or progress to a position of working with animals.


  • Minimum 2 years supervisory or management experience in a fast-paced/busy retail store (preferably "gift shop" based rather than food retail)

  • Outstanding customer service skills

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Amazing organisational skills

  • A love of technology (computers aren’t your enemy)

  • Understanding of or background in the tourism industry

  • Comfortable with ordering stock to meet demand and creating enticing displays

  • Familiarity with 'Vend' POS would be a bonus

The role
Our gift shop is the first thing our customers see as they enter. It doubles as our ticket sales area, and is often extremely busy! We are looking for a Retail Coordinator to step into a newly created role, which involves taking responsibility for stock management and presentation, along with providing stellar customer service.

On our busiest days, you'll be flat out serving people in our gift shop alongside our amazing keepers, and on quieter days you'll have time to catch up on paperwork, complete stocktakes ensure new stock will arrive in time for our peak periods.

Your hours of work will be 8am - 5pm Monday to Friday, however occasional weekend work will be required. This is a full time position at 40 hours per week.

We are based in Brighton - around 30 minutes north of Hobart CBD. It is essential that you have your own reliable transport to get you to and from work.

We are looking for someone to come in and really take ownership of this area - you'll need to thrive in crazy busy environments, be comfortable with juggling multiple high priority tasks, and pride yourself on your ability to stay calm and work in stressful conditions. 

Due to the nature of this role, we are unable to provide flexibility regarding the location of the role and the times you are required on site. Again a reminder - you will not be working directly with animals, so please do not apply if that is what you are after! (Check out our internship instead!)
