One of our knowledgeable keepers will introduce you to some of Bonorong’s favourite species and share with you their passion and concern for Tasmanian wildlife.
Not only do we aim to entertain you, we are committed to ensuring that you leave Bonorong with the tools to help conserve Tasmania’s unique wildlife.
What can you do to reduce roadkill? Or help the Tassie devil in its fight against disease? Visitors and Tasmanians alike can play their part in looking after our wonderful creatures.
To enjoy our wildlife at your leisure, we recommend allowing an absolute minimum of one hour to wander around the Sanctuary.
Please note that sometimes our animals wish to remain hidden during the tour due to weather conditions (or just being nice and cosy in bed!). In these instances, our keepers may substitute for another of our residents.

Our animals choose their level of interaction at all times, so if your chosen animal would rather stay in bed we’ll give you the option of a different encounter or a refund.
Please note – Animal Encounters do not include your general admission fee – this is to be paid on arrival at the Sanctuary, or can be purchased online.
Accessibility note: Our wombat encounters are wheelchair-friendly (please advise when booking), however our tawny frogmouth, ringtail possum and echidna enclosures are not currently wheelchair accessible. Visitors using wheelchairs are welcome to accompany their group to watch these encounters from outside the enclosure free of charge.

Matt PalmerBonorong’s Private, Premium Tours are exclusive, 3-hour tours; a private experience just for you and whoever you are with. They come in two flavours; Private Premium Feeding Frenzies take place during the day, and Private Premium Night Tours take place in the evening.
One of our most experienced keepers will be your guide for the duration of this intimate, private tour. You will have the opportunity to meet our resident animals, learn their stories and offer them a snack. Enjoy an extensive session on Tasmanian devils, discovering little known facts about this amazing and endangered species, and having the chance to feed them from less than one metre away! The tour also includes a visit to the wildlife hospital where you will be able to follow the journey of an injured animal from rescue to release.
