A WIN FOR Wildlife

ifaw (International Fund for Animal Welfare) believes that ‘every animal matters’ and they are bringing that value to life by supporting Bonorong’s Wildlife Hospital in a really BIG way.

Our hospital staff work hard to treat all native creatures (reptiles, birds and mammals) who arrive at Bonorong in need of help. Specialist veterinarians assess, diagnose, treat and medicate injured wildlife received through our 24 hr Wildlife Rescue Service, and from wildlife carers.

With careful ongoing treatment, rest and follow-up appointments if needed, these amazing creatures once nursed back to health can be released.

To continue this valuable service, and in recognition of the importance of expert veterinary care for wildlife, ifaw has forged a unique partnership with Bonorong to fund our essential veterinary staff.

Thanks to ifaw our wildlife in Tasmania has been given the best possible chance of survival, of being returned to the wild and therefore securing future populations for generations to come.

Ringtail rescue

Tolly, a juvenile ringtail possum, was rescued from the roadside by a volunteer with a suspected head injury. After arriving at Bonorong she was given a full assessment by our veterinary team under anaesthetic to keep her calm and comfortable. Luckily, no treatment was needed and she woke up (after a few sleepy minutes) and was placed with a registered wildlife carer for rehabilitation and hopefully a full recovery and release.

MAking a Big Difference

Thank you to ifaw for keeping Bonorong’s mission to rescue and support wildlife (such as Tolly) alive!
